Ailes

Millions of people watch only Fox News to get their political and entertainment view of the world. Outright lies, half truths and innuendo are part and parcel of the mental orgy that follows the Nazi Germany playbook on propaganda. Essentially, “A lie told once remains a lie but a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth,” as Nazi Germany Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels once said. And that is the basic framework of Fox News. Today, we see this technique spread throughout social media and when people are called on their lies, they’ll deny something easily researched because essentially they are too lazy to get other opinions or the facts. Even the spin on the truth becomes “alt-facts” passed off as an “opinion.”
People, especially regressives, want to believe the worst about any subject by blaming the government while they support the corporate takeover of democratic institutions, eliminating their Bill of Rights and gladly giving them up because in their minds they think they are punishing those who think differently.
Gabriel Sherman, “The Loudest Voice in the Room: How the Brilliant, Bombastic Roger Ailes Built Fox News–and Divided a Country” makes the observation that Ailes started out as an advisor on Nixon’s 1968 campaign for president and “In the 1970s, he honed his theatrical instincts as a Broadway producer and ran a fledgling conservative television news service bankrolled by the right-wing beer magnate Joseph Coors— in essence, a dry run for Fox News. And in the 1980s, Ailes mastered the dark art of attack politics as a mercenary campaign strategist, skills he would soon put to use in turning a television news network into an unprecedented political force.”
By the time Fox News was started Ailes used his propaganda techniques as “…a news executive was essentially running the Republican Party…a remarkable development in American politics. But it was an outcome Ailes foretold. After the 1968 campaign, Ailes spoke of a time when television would replace the political party, that other mass organizer of the twentieth century. With Fox News, that reality was arguably established.”
Eventually, Ailes was forced out of Fox News because of sexual harassment charges stemming from his abuse of “on air talent” and other women at Fox News. Since the public will probably never know all the details due to settlement disclosure agreements, one can only conclude that even liars eventually will be caught in the web of deceit and pseudo-religious and false political stances that were merely cover for inciting the angry listener to the lowest levels of human depravity.
